Jamaican Burger Recipe


Want a little Caribbean holiday?  This recipe will take you there.


Ingredients:

1 Tbsp. Olive Oil

1 tsp. Olive Oil

1 1/2 Cups Onion, chopped

2 Garlic Cloves, minced

2/3 Habanero Pepper, chopped

1 Tbsp. fresh Ginger Root, grated

3/4 tsp. Salt

1/2 tsp. Ground Allspice

1/2 tsp. Ground Nutmeg

1 1/2 Cups cooked Black Beans, rinsed and drained

1 1/2 Cups cooked Long-Grain White Rice

1 2/3 Cups Dry Breadcrumbs

4 Hamburger Buns, split


Directions:

In a large skillet, heat 1 Tbsp. of oil over medium heat.  Add the garlic and onions and cook for a few minutes.  Add in the habanero pepper until it’s tender.


Then remove from the heat and pour into a bowl.  Pour in the rice, beans, and breadcrumbs, and season with allspice, nutmeg, ginger, and salt and form into 4 patties.


Over medium-high heat, fry the patties for about 10 minutes, flipping once.


Serve on buns, with your favorite toppings.
